What's On Currently
Welcome to our Summer Newsletter Doesn’t quite feel like summer yet but the vines are fully clad and the crop looks very promising when and if the warm days finally come along. The whole property is a picture of green, so much so that cellar door customers have taken to strolling up the drive admiring the grand views over the rolling hills of the Diamond Valley. Over summer we have a break from regular events but the cellar door is open every weekend except for that of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Wine News In between vineyard maintenance, which has been very intense this growing season due to heavy rainfalls, we have managed to bottle our 2010 Pinot, Merlot and Shiraz with Cabernet to follow soon. We will keep you informed as to their up and coming release and winetasting which will take place in the new year. Petillant Methode Champenoise 2006 now available! Just in time for X-mas we do have two newies for you – a lovely crisp, passion fruity 2011 Sauvignon Blanc and a berry laden soft juicy 2010 Cabernet Merlot. These form part of our developing ‘The Orphans’ range, a name which came spontaneously to us while explaining to customers at Open Cellars 2010, the origins of a Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot & Zinfandel blend. Quite literally that wine came about because we could not find a home for it under one of our existing labels. We bottled it as one huge blend and cellar door customers took care of it and gave it a home! Very caring people they are too! Credit must go to Morris Watson, long-time Lovegrove aficionado – many thanks! Since that very first Orphans the quality level has picked up enormously so please help support local boutique producers & get a case or 2 for X-Mas These two are exceptionally well priced: 2011 ‘The Orphans’ Sauvignon Blanc $14/bottle singly or $12/bottle by the dozen 2008 ‘The Orphans’ Cabernet Merlot $16/bottle singly or $14/bottle by the dozen *These can now be ordered on-line using our new Shopping Cart system. Coming Events Spanish Long Table Lunch @ Lovegrove 22nd April 2012 Featuring Tapas, Paella & Churros with Chocolate, Lovegrove wines and live Flamenco music. In the courtyard weather permitting. Local Paella chef Bron Sparkes has a Spanish heritage and is gaining quite a reputation around Nillumbik. Menu will be advertised in the New Year but this is just to whet the appetite. $95 per person all inclusive. Current Art Exhibition 'Tertium Non Data' Kirsty Chalmers & Alice Chalmers, a mother & daughter joint exhibition of works on paper. Kirsty is known for her photography and in particular her work for the Nillumbik Tourism Association, however her drawings are equally creative and thought provoking. For invitation details see Current Events. Lovegrove Website – On Line Purchases Well, finally we have a Shopping Cart system so you can now purchase on-line via a secure payment system. We know that this is very common these days but it is a big advance for us. Just search Lovegrove, click on ‘Our Wines’ and you are there. The minimum order is just 6 bottles and orders of 2 dozen and more are postage free. All local deliveries within neighbouring suburbs are free. Very easy, no travel, no fuss – please support local boutique producers and be one of our first on-line purchasers or come up and say hello, mention this newsletter and receive a complimentary bottle of Rose or ‘The Orphans’ 2010 Shiraz with purchases over $50. We wish you all the best for the festive & hope to see you soon. Warm regards, Stephen & Louise
